Girl X tells murder trial she ran from park 'in panic'

A GIRL charged with the murder of Brianna Ghey told jurors she heard a scream and turned around to see her co-accused stabbing her.

The now 16-year-old, known only as Girl X, was visibly upset as she said that she saw teenage Boy Y knifing Brianna, also 16.

Prosecutors allege Brianna was stabbed 28 times in the head, neck, chest and back with a hunting knife after she was lured to Culcheth Linear Park near Warrington, Cheshire, on February 11.

Boy Y and Girl X, then 15, deny murder and blame each other. They cannot be named due to their age.

Manchester Crown Court jurors have seen a handwritten alleged "murder plan" from Girl X's bedroom plus texts between her and Boy Y, purportedly on the idea of luring Brianna to the park and killing her.
