House prices remain steady but 'will rise when rates fall'

HOUSE prices were unchanged in February but experts predict rises later in the year as mortgage rates fall.

The average home remained at £268,000, which was flat month on month but up 5.4% year on year, according to the Office for National Statistics.

Growth was driven by the North of England, with London up just 1.7% year on year.

Verona Frankish, boss of estate agents Yopa, said: "Whilst house prices remained unchanged in February, we've continued to see positive growth on an annual basis and this is a far better measure of the ongoing improvements seen to the health of the UK property market.
