This Valentine's Day it's not just champagne that's on ice

NOSES are red, toeses are blue... Arctic air arriving today means chills as well as thrills for Valentine's Day.

Widespread snow might at least be a romantic change from the persistent rain, which will be back heartbreakingly soon, forecasters say.

A Met Office yellow warning for snow and ice is in place for north east England, Yorkshire and Humber, northern Scotland, Orkney and Shetland, Angus, Perth and Kinross.

A further yellow warning for snow in northern England and most of Scotland comes into force at 9pm tonight until 10am tomorrow.

Forecasters warned falls could be "heavy" at times and may cause disruption to travel, especially over high ground tonight and tomorrow.
