Drone delivery of guns to jails a security crisis, says top Tory

MINISTERS have “no time to lose” to stop prisoners getting hold of guns or explosives, Shadow Justice Secretary Robert Jenrick has declared. He warned gangs are flying drones into jails at will in a “national security crisis”.

The Tory MP called on prison chiefs to bring in commercially available technology to jam and ground drones entering the airspace over jails.

On a visit to France, he saw technology identify drones in a controlled zone and pinpoint the operator's location. He said: “You can find him in an instant, you can get...the police on to him.”

Mr Jenrick added: “Our prisons are under siege from drones. Gangs are using them to flood our jails with drugs and weapons and deliver to some of the most dangerous criminals, like terrorists.
