Targets include site in Siberia 2,600 miles from Ukraine
UKRAINE destroyed 41 nuclear-capable planes at military air bases deep inside Russia in an audacious wave of drone attacks yesterday.
Footage showed plane after plane being blown to pieces at an airfield in Siberia — 2,600 miles from Ukraine.
Hundreds of drones were smuggled into Russia and launched from trucks close to at least five airbases to cause more than £5billion in damage, Ukrainian security source said.
Operation Spider’s Web was over a year and a half in the planning and personally supervised by Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky.
Yesterday he hailed the operation “an absolutely brilliant result” and one “achieved solely by Ukraine”.
Explosive-laden drones smuggled into Russia were placed in wooden crates and loaded on to trucks to be driven near the airbases, a Ukrainian security source said.
