Con artists steal £20m in 3-month OAP blitz

PENSIONERS are being conned by a huge spike in courier fraud that has seen victims lose almost £20million inside just three months.

The spate of crimes by organised criminal gangs in the east and south has seen older people targeted, including one case where a victim lost £5.3million.

Reports to Action Fraud have shown people over 70 are being disproportionately targeted by courier fraud. It involves deceiving victims into believing they are assisting the police or their bank.
