Ceasefire at risk as Israel strikes Hezbollah targets

THE ceasefire in Lebanon lay in tatters yesterday as Israel blitzed what it called Hezbollah positions.

It also bombarded homes in northern Gaza, killing at least 15 people after nine died in raids on two southern Lebanese villages, according to local public health officials.

The Israel Defence Forces said it struck terrorist targets and infrastructure "throughout Lebanon", while reiterating its commitment to the ceasefire agreement.

Hezbollah said it reacted to Israeli "violations" with a "defensive warning", firing mortars at an army position in the disputed Mount Dov border region. No injuries were reported.
