Cambridge don accuses Mantel of 'falsifying the accounts' in Wolf Hall

WOLF Hall author Hilary Mantel did some of her characters a historic injustice in her prize-winning books, an eminent expert has claimed.

Professor Eamon Duffy, from the University of Cambridge, accused the late writer of "falsifying the accounts" used to create her acclaimed series.

The Wolf Hall trilogy tracks the rise and fall of Henry VIII's chief minister, Thomas Cromwell - played by Mark Rylance in the hit BBC series.

Hilary, who died in 2022 aged 70, won two Booker Prizes for the first and second titles in the series - Wolf Hall and Bring Up The Bodies.

But Reformation expert Prof Duffy, reckons her description of Sir Thomas More in the novels re-wrote history.
