Biden and Xi talking peace

JOE Biden met Xi Jinping last night in a renewed bid to stabilise US-China relations amid rising tensions.

The leaders were due to speak about the Israel-Hamas war and the Ukraine conflict, as well as growing US concerns about China's military activity around Taiwan and its rapidly expanding nuclear arsenal.

The meeting, Mr Biden's second with Xi since taking office in 2021, was aimed at managing risks of further deterioration in the two nations' relationship and preventing conflict, rather than specific deals, a spokesman for the US President said.
