Beware of sneaky mobile roaming charges abroad

ROAMING charges were supposed to be a thing of the past but millions risk returning home from their summer holidays to face shock mobile phone bills because they didn't check the small print before they left.

Andy Aitken, co-founder of Honest Mobile, warned: "You could be racking up charges from the moment you switch off airplane mode."

Three of the four main networks still have European roaming charges, and according to Uswitch, some customers have ended up with bills as high as £1,000 after a single trip.
