Kevin Sinfield completes first of 7 ultramarathons in 7 days

MODEST Kevin Sinfield ran 27.9 miles through stair-rod rain and icy winds on the first leg of his ultramarathon challenge inspired by the motor neurone disease sufferers he's doing it for.

He set out yesterday on the first of seven back-to-back ultramarathons, 18 months after the disease killed his best friend Rob Burrow at 41.

Kevin, 45, was cheered by crowds, including MND patients and their families, from Bury St Edmunds to Ipswich, where he was met by ex-Ipswich striker Marcus Stewart, 53, who has MND.

Kevin said: "The rain is beating down and it's cold. It's a good time of year for us to run. There's nobody else doing anything to bring this community together.
