Female news hosts sue broadcaster for sex discrimination
NEWSREADER Martine Croxall claimed to an employment tribunal yesterday: "The BBC grinds you down" on pay.
She is among four female presenters suing the broadcaster over age and sex discrimination and equal pay. The women aged 46 to 55 were taken off air last year after missing out on senior presenting roles. They claim the selection process was "rigged".
The claimants are Ms Croxall, 55, Karin Giannone, 50, Kasia Madera, 48, and Annita McVeigh, 46.
Selectiom
The BBC merged its domestic and international news channels in 2022 and ran a selection process for chief presenter roles. Its management is accused of having chosen who they wanted before anyone had applied.
