Bank app customers able to see strangers' details

TENS of thousands of Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland customers have fallen victim to a massive app security breach.

Security was breached for group's app users

Panic spread after those logging into accounts — some using facial recognition technology — saw other people’s account information.

One Lloyds customer told how she was able to access confidential details of loan, mortgage, utility and council tax payments of strangers after details appeared under her current account details.

The IT failure comes amid rising concerns about the government's plans for digital ID.

The affected customer told the Express: “I was able to see a detailed timeline of incoming and outgoing payments, names, amounts and specifics relating to several individuals after logging on using my unique facial ID. Presumably other people were able to see mine.
