5-4-3-2-1...Thunderbirds' drone is a Virgil reality

A NEW war drone has blasted off from its launchpad – and it looks just like Thunderbird 2.
The US military showed off its latest unmanned combat aircraft this week by releasing these images.
And they reveal it bears striking similarities to the iconic green rescue vehicle piloted by Virgil Tracy in the smash-hit 1960s puppet show.
Just like Thunderbird 2, the XQ-58A Valkyrie doesn’t need a runway. It lifted off from an inclined platform when it took a test flight at Eglin air force base in Florida in December.
