JUST 27p a day - £100 annually - can fund a girl's primary school education in Afghanistan for a year, experts says

International charity Street Child has launched its Education Is Her Right campaign to get more girls there back into school.

The plan is to raise awareness and funds to support the group's work in Taliban-ruled Afghanistan.

Fundamentalist leaders effectively banned female education when they returned to power in August 2021.

They have prevented 1.1 million girls from attending secondary school.

Women have also been banned from studying at university, although some provinces still allow secondary education for girls.
