Political tension has sharply escalated in Mira-Bhayandar after the civic body cleared a proposal to increase property tax by 60 per cent, triggering strong protests by the opposition and widespread concern among residents.
The decision was taken during the general body meeting held on February 18, where the ruling group led by the Bharatiya Janata Party reportedly used its numerical strength to pass the proposal under the leadership of Narendra Mehta.
