Palace fans who helped bring back the magic of the FA Cup

IT felt like the FA Cup had got its magic back when Crystal Palace won at Wembley a fortnight ago.

Of course, it’s a famous trophy that every club wants to get their hands on but that special romance of lifting the FA Cup has been a bit overshadowed by the dominance of the Premier League and Champions League in football’s mindest in recent times.

And the fact that the big-money clubs have completely monopolised the FA Cup for the last 20 years has meant the greatest club trophy in the world has been out of reach for most football fans.

But all that changed when Crystal Palace, a humble club from south London, beat the millionaires of Manchester City to bag the Eagles first ever piece of major silverware.

What was striking about Palace’s Wembley triumph was how happy people across the football community were about their win. Apart from Man City, and their south London and A23/M23 rivals, everyone seemed delighted that Palace had won.
