RUDONI FIRES CITY AHEAD BUT DEEPDALE HOODOO RETURNS
Coventry Telegraph
|December 10, 2025
CHAMPIONSHIP leaders Coventry City had to settle for a point against ten man Preston North End where they were denied a league victory at the 24th attempt at Deepdale.
The Sky Blues backed by almost 5,000 travelling fans thought they had broken the hoodoo when a Jack Rudoni shot deflected in off Andrew Hughes for an own goal on 70 minutes.
But North End pulled level six minutes later to add to City's frustration of being unable to make their extra man advantage count.
Haji Wright went close to breaking the deadlock for City when he latched onto two long diagonal passes in the opening 20 minutes, powering into the box and forcing goalkeeper Daniel Iversen into saves.
The home side were then reduced to ten man six minutes from the break when centre-back Liam Lindsay was shown a straight red card for a last man foul on Wright who was clipped outside the box and went down inside the area.
