Mum jailed after murder of 'funny and loved' man
Coventry Telegraph
|October 11, 2025
A MUM-OF-SIX who violently murdered a 'funny and outgoing' Coventry man has been jailed for life.
Laura Shanley stabbed Alfred James Corbett at a property in Foleshill.
Alfred, who was known as Jamie, was found seriously injured at a property on Edmund Road just after 4am on September 17, 2024. Police were called, and Shanley was arrested.
The mum, who had been in a relationship with Mr Corbett, had initially denied the killing but was convicted by a jury at Warwick Crown Court on October 1. Jurors heard that Mr Corbett had been manipulated and coercively controlled in the days before he was killed.
