City's 'most dangerous roundabout' faces 'more travel demand'

COVENTRY Council is working on ways to make a notorious roundabout safer - but admitted finding a solution was 'challenging' amid a potential increase in traffic.

The spot in question, known locally as the Mount Pleasant roundabout, is at the junction where Hinckley Road meets Wigston Road and Brade Drive.

The island in Walsgrave was dubbed the 'smallest and most dangerous roundabout in Coventry' by ward councillor Ed Ruane, who is calling for council and highway bosses to prioritise finding a solution.

A resident who lives nearby echoed that sentiment, saying you 'take your life into your own hands' each time you use it. The road the roundabout serves was described as 'one of the main arterial routes in and out of Coventry' by Coun Ruane, connecting the city to the M6 and M69 junctions, not to mention the ever-expanding Ansty area just outside Coventry.
