A RARE 330-year-old chamber pot, one of only six known of its type, has been found in a wreck off South East Cornwall.

The pewter vessel, left, was found among the timbers of the 18th-century warship HMS Coronation.

It is thought to have belonged to her captain.

HMS Coronation was a 90-gun, second-rate ship of the line, built at Portsmouth Dockyard as part of the Royal Navy's “Thirty Ships” rearmament programme of 1677, and launched in 1685.

She was lost in a storm off Rame Head on September 3, 1691, and is designated under the Protection of Wrecks Act 1973.
