'Many will be left in despair by Spending Review

LIBERAL Democrat MP for Glastonbury and Somerton, Sarah Dyke, has warned that the Government's Spending Review risks severely harming rural communities while simultaneously failing to adequately address the NHS, social care and cost-of-living crisis.

She also shared her dismay that the review announces real terms funding cuts for the Defra budget by 2028.
Ms Dyke said: “It’s disappointing to read in the Spending Review document today that the Government is effectively cutting farming budgets again. Farmers are still reeling from the enormous damage the previous Conservative government inflicted on them, and Labour has compounded these problems with its disastrous family farm tax and by closing the Sustainable Farming Incentive scheme many farmers relied on.
