Antisocial acts force church to close its grounds

A CHURCH in the historic town of Glastonbury has to close its grounds due to the amount of antisocial behaviour going on.
A notice at St John the Baptist Church in Glastonbury (pictured inset) said they have to close, apart from important services, due to the amount of antisocial behaviour going on at the churchyard and grounds.
The church gates will be closed for 30 days from May 1 except for Sunday services and funerals, an unprecedented move.
Church authorities hope this will give the police, schools and other organisations time to tackle the problem which is getting worse in Glastonbury.
Antisocial behaviour is an increasing problem in the town which attracts thousands of visitors every year, not to mention acting as the backdrop to one of the biggest music festivals in the world.
