T-Govt committed to handloom revival : Minister Tummala

Telangana Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao expressed heartfelt gratitude to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for entrusting him with the responsibility of representing two vital communities — the farmers who feed the nation and the weavers who clothe it.

Marking National Handloom Day, Minister Tummala participated in a vibrant celebration held at People’s Plaza on Necklace Road, where he inaugurated a grand handloom and textile exhibition featuring over 100 stalls.

The event showcased the rich weaving traditions of Telangana, and the Minister took time to personally interact with artisans and inspect their products.

He paid special attention to stalls organised under the Prison Department, appreciating the craftsmanship of inmates trained in weaving.

He also congratulated the recipients of the Konda Laxman Bapuji Handloom Awards, recognising their contribution to preserving traditional textile arts.

Later, addressing the gathering, Minister Tummala said Telangana ranks first in the country when it comes to the welfare and development of handloom workers.
