Nations with nuclear weapons are holding the rest of the world to ransom

THE Letter by Farouk Araie (18/6/2025) should be essential reading in every household. Many people have no idea how destructive the nuclear weapons of today can be.

This could be because the atom bombs on Japan didn’t affect everyone across the globe that much. But that was 80 years ago, and the technology has been evolving.

Another phrase in his letter, “Some military doctrine involves the use of nuclear tactical weapons to thwart a massive military invasion. This scary tactic will involve the detonation of a 30 kilo ton weapon on their soil, which could kill over 50,000 of its own citizens in a nearby city.”

Intentional nor not, it reminds one of what has become known as “The Samson Option”.
