Libya protesters want PM to resign

SOME 500 people protested in Libya's capital Tripoli at the weekend for a second day of demonstrations demanding that Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibah resign, days after deadly clashes rocked the city.

The latest protest came after thousands of anti-government demonstrators had gathered at Martyrs’ Square in central Tripoli last week before marching on premier’s office.
The government said one police officer was shot dead by unknown attackers when he was “targeted while securing” Dbeibah’s office.
Libya is split between the UN-recognised government in Tripoli, led by Dbeibah, and a rival administration in the east controlled by the family of military strongman Khalifa Haftar.
The North African country has remained deeply divided since the 2011 Nato-backed revolt that toppled and killed long-time leader Muammar Gaddafi.
