Dutch far-right leader on campaign
Cape Times
|October 16, 2025
DUTCH far-right leader Geert Wilders said yesterday he was returning to the campaign trail, days after he stopped appearing in public due to a threat from jihadist-inspired attackers in Belgium.
-
“Elections are coming up now, it’s campaign season... so it’s back to work,” said Wilders on X, formerly Twitter, as the Dutch prepare to go to the polls on October 29.
Last week, Belgian authorities arrested three people accused of planning “a jihadist-inspired terrorist attack against political figures” using drone-mounted explosives.
Wilders suspended his campaigning after learning he was also a target of this alleged cell that was aimed at Belgium's Prime Minister Bart De Wever.
