We avoid these topics - shame, fear of judgment and stigma because they cause us discomfort.But Een Keer Om Die Son flips the script, throwing those walls down and showing life exactly as it is: complicated, beautiful, painful and full of love.

At the centre of the emotionally honest storytelling are Ivan Botha and Donnalee Roberts, one of South Africa's most dynamic screen couples. Beyond their onscreen charisma, they are the creative minds behind the writing and direction of the Van Wyk family’s story.

Individually, both are talented actors, but together, they breathe life and realism into a series that captures the highs and lows of modern family life.

“When we wrote and finished season one, we definitely knew the Van Wyks needed another trip around the sun,” Botha explains.

“In the second season, which is currently airing, we explore incredible themes of love, hope and second chances. It’s that typical feeling of, two years later, Ine has gone through healing, and the process of healing and suddenly the hurt of the past catches up to you and opens up all those wounds,” he adds.
