DA challenges secrecy in NDPP appointment

LACK OF TRANSPARENCY
THE DA has invoked the Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA) to compel the release of a report that informed President Cyril Ramaphosa's unexpected appointment of advocate Andy Mothibi as National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP).
Ramaphosa last week named Mothibi, the former head of the Special Investigating Unit (SIU), as the new leader of the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), after an advisory panel concluded that none of the shortlisted candidates were suitable for the post.
