Bidder challenges 'disgruntled' label

WHILE the City of Cape Town has instructed the unsuccessful bidder relating to the disputed Cape Town Stadium LED screen tender, to approach the Western Cape High Court, he has kicked back with documentary evidence stating he was being framed as being “disgruntled”.

- MURRAY SWART

The development follows a public dispute last week over the multimillion-rand contract for new video display screens at Cape Town Stadium, during which the City rejected allegations of procurement irregularities and referred to the complainant as a “disgruntled tenderer”.

Frank MacBeath of Sport and Traffic Technologies (SATT), whose company submitted an unsuccessful bid, has now issued a detailed rebuttal, rejecting the characterisation and insisting his concerns are grounded in documentary evidence.

“I’ve seen the City’s response in the media. Predictably, they’re trying to frame this as a ‘disgruntled tenderer’ narrative,” MacBeath said.
