CAMBRIDGE United head coach Neil Harris heaped praise on his side after they ran Fulham “really close” in Tuesday's Carabao Cup tie.

United exited the competition at the third-round stage with a 1-0 defeat at Craven Cottage, with Emile Smith Rowe's goal midway through the second half sending the Premier League hosts through.

Backed by 5,200 travelling supporters, the League Two outfit put in an excellent defensive display against their topflight opponents, and Harris told his club: “Win, lose or draw, what an event, what an evening.
