Hammer and Kimpton goals secure trophy for Rovers
Cambridge News
|May 07, 2025
AFTER completing the league double over Premier Division South champions St Neots Town, Eynesbury Rovers faced the North section champions Lincoln United and brushed them aside 2-0 to win their first ever United Counties League KO Cup.
-
Playing in their change kit of red and black, it took Rovers just ten minutes to take the lead.
They were awarded a free-kick after a nasty challenge on Victor Osobu by Scott Matthews, and the defender was lucky to escape without being shown a card.
However, Lewis Lynn delivered the free-kick into the box where Max Kimpton controlled the ball and found Oskar Ciach. The teenager played it to the back post where Dan Hammer controlled the ball before hitting it home for his sixth goal of the season.
