Vance warns Europe of AI over-regulation
US Vice-President JD Vance told Europeans on Tuesday their "massive" regulations on artificial intelligence could strangle the technology, and rejected content moderation as "authoritarian censorship".
In another sign of divergences on AI governance, the US and Britain did not sign up to the final statement of a French-hosted AI summit on "Inclusive and Sustainable Artificial Intelligence". Britain did not sign the Paris AI Summit's declaration on Tuesday because it lacked clarity on questions around global governance and national security, a spokesperson for Prime Minister Keir Starmer said.
