Rams spot on to oust Baggies in shoot-out

|August 14, 2025
DERBY County booked their place in the Carabao Cup second round as Josh Vickers was the penalty shootout hero against West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns.
Aune Heggebo gave the Baggies a 67th-minute lead but Joe Ward levelled in the sixth minute of stoppage time for the Rams with a stunning free kick.
The tie went to spot-kicks and Vickers saved twice to deny Jed Wallace and Karlan Grant as the Rams won 3-2.
Kenzo Goudmijn, Kayden Jackson and Ebou Adams scored their penalties for the Rams, while Ben Osborn missed and Ward saw his effort saved. Josh Maja missed for the Baggies.
Bobby Clark, who arrived on a season-long loan from RB Salzburg last week, made his Rams debut in midfield, while Ward made his first start since December 2024.
Vickers took over from Jacob Widdell Zetterstrom in goal for the Rams.
