COUNCIL WORKERS ATTACKED NEARLY 800 TIMES IN 3 YEARS
LEADERS at Staffordshire County Council say 'no one deserves to be abused for just doing their job' after new figures showed there were nearly 800 attacks on staff in the past three years.
Workplace injury claim specialists Legal Expert obtained Freedom Of Information requests from the authority, which showed 784 attacks on staff between April 2022 and March 2025.
In 2024/25 there were 106 injuries to council workers and 258 physical or verbal assaults.
Residential workers were impacted most last year, suffering 74 attacks. Ten of them led to an injury, making staff the most likely to suffer harm from an assault.
Care Support Facilitators (51 incidents) and Day Services Assistants (41) were also frequently subjected to violence.
