MORRIS TAPS HOME TO MAKE IT CONSECUTIVE VICTORIES FOR RAMS

- By LEIGH CURTIS

DERBY County recorded their first back-to-back wins of the season as Carlton Morris' goal secured a 1-0 victory over Queens Park Rangers at Pride Park Stadium.

The Rams took the lead when a corner into the box was half-cleared to Max Johnston outside the penalty area.

Morris was in the right place for a tap-in as he reacted quickly after Sondre Langas stabbed the ball goalward, the striker prodding it over the line for his fifth goal of the season.

He could have had another moments later when another cross from Johnston picked out his run at the near post but the striker's header looped onto the roof of the net.

Ben Brereton Diaz was next to try his luck as he met a cross which forced a good save from QPR keeper Paul Nardi at his near post at the expense of a corner.

QPR had to wait until the half-hour mark to produce an attacking move of note and it came when Harvey Vale flicked the ball into the path of Richard Kone.

The striker tried to fire across Jacob Widell Zetterstrom but didn't catch it with any power and the Rams keeper made a comfortable stop.

The halftime message from Rams head coach John Eustace would have been for more of the same after the break, although chances for both sides were at a premium.

A decent bit of skill from Bobby Clark took him past two challenges but his pass into the feet of Morris carried too much power for him to bring it under control.

QPR had not offered much going forward but they were presented with an excellent chance as Kone was unmarked when he met a Jimmy Dunne cross but he could only plant it over the bar.
