COLLECTIONS WERE EXPANDED ONE YEAR AGO TO NOW COVER JUST UNDER 13,000 HOUSEHOLDS
A COUNCIL has celebrated the first anniversary of its expanded trial of flexible plastic collections.
More than 45 tonnes of plastic bags and wrapping have been kept from incineration since the North West Leicestershire District Council (NWLDC) trial began.
In the trial, households taking part have been recycling items including:
■'Bags for life' and carrier bags.
■Fruit and vegetable wrapping.
■Bread bags.
■Crisp packets.
■Sweet and biscuit wrappers.
■Film lids from ready meals.
■Pet and baby food pouches.
■Bubble wrap and cling film.
