JOHN Brayford was not the only former Sheffield United player who was appreciated by both sets of supporters at Tuesday night's preseason friendly between the Blades and Burton Albion.

Amissah: Odd to play Blades but we're progressing

Goalkeeper Jordan Amissah lined up against the club he left in 2024 after moving over from Germany to spend six years with them and was warmly welcomed by United fans, especially when he went between the posts at the away end for the second half.

Although he made only one appearance for the Blades, as a 78th-minute substitute in a Championship game away to Luton Town in 2022, his cheery nature made him popular at Bramall Lane, just as it did during his loan spell with the Brewers in 2023 and again now.

"I enjoyed it a lot. I've still got a lot of friends at Sheffield United and it was a bit weird playing against them," said Amissah in an interview with the Brewers' website.

"I had a nice reception off the Sheffield United fans, which I'm very grateful for."

The focus was on the Brewers' progress, though and although Burton have conceded seven goals in preseason, the Blades' 49th-minute equaliser was the only time Amissah has been beaten yet.
