We have to be careful with Knight, says City head coach Struber

BRISTOL City “have to be careful” and learn from their recent experiences as they manage Jason Knight, Gerhard Struber has insisted, after the Robins’ captain returned from injury to feature in the win against Swansea City.

The 24-year-old was a second-half substitute as City returned from the international break with a 3-0 win at Ashton Gate on Saturday lunchtime. First-half goals from Rob Dickie and Emil Riis, as well as a late Yu Hirakawa strike, proved to be enough to end a three-match winless run and send Struber's side up to fourth in the table.

Knight had missed each of City’s previous eight matches, having sustained a groin injury late in a goalless draw with Preston North End in September. Prior to his injury, the captain had started - and played every minute - in each of City’s first eight games in all competitions, a feat he also managed across the entirety of last season.

With Joe Williams and Max Bird sidelined, Struber’s central midfield options are limited. As a result, there has been an expectation among fans that, when fit, Knight would quickly be thrust back into the starting lineup.
