Three branches Popular artisan bakery announces sudden closure

A POPULAR artisan bakery with three sites across Bristol has announced its sudden closure.

East Bristol Bakery has shut its doors at locations in Easton, Wapping Wharf and Old Market after a combination of rising costs and a pest infestation rendered the business insolvent.

Owner Rob Hagen said: "It is the most horrible of news and has been so hard having to put the business into liquidation."

The business released a statement to be transparent about the closure citing a significant drop in midweek trade over the last 12 months which had not recovered.

Recruitment had become challenging during the past six months while energy costs and rent increased sharply alongside the price of flour and other ingredients.
