Swags chairman: It’s not in my make-up to just fold everything

Nailsea & Tickenham chairman Rob Gregory

Nailsea, who had risen remarkably through the leagues to finish up an all-time high seventh in the Premier Division last season, were rock bottom of the table without a point before losing 8-0 at Street on November 1 in their 17th and final game.

Gregory issued a statement clarifying the "very sad" decision had been taken due to the "ever decreasing financial situation and diminishing volunteer resource."

He told the Bristol Post: "The wage bill was spiralling as our then management team, led by Nic Steadman and Jamie Smith (now in charge at Clevedon Town) understandably chased more success.

"If ambition is to the detriment of keeping a club going, any chairman in my shoes would surely do what I've done.
