Plan for traveller sites refused

COUNCILLORS in North Somerset have voted down two plans to create more Traveller pitches in a village.

Two unconnected but very similar applications to create new traveller pitches in Hewish have been refused planning permission by North Somerset Council's planning committee. The council currently has a “significant” need for more Gypsy and Traveller pitches.
Local councillor Dan Thomas told the committee: “I am very proud to represent members of the Gypsy/Roma/Traveller community but I fear adding this site in an area with no amenities except a primary school and Puxton Park is not really fair.”
