Horse racing Fallen Angel looks like a dark horse for Lockinge

WHILE there are no superstars in the field for Saturday's Lockinge Stakes at Newbury, it is a particularly good renewal, with four Guineas winners taking part.

Rosallion, second in the Newmarket 2,000 before winning the Irish equivalent and the St James's Palace, form as good as any other three-year-old miler in 2024. But he has the long absence since Royal Ascot to overcome.

Tamfana was unlucky to finish only fourth in last year's 1,000 Guineas and wasn’t beaten far in the French Oaks and Grand Prix de Paris over longer trips. She was happier returning to a mile and was second to the race-fit Dancing Gemini at Sandown last month. She meets him on better terms now.

Notable Speech's form was in and out after last year’s 2,000 victory. A comfortable Sussex Stakes success was preceded and followed by unplaced efforts. He's not been seen since finishing third at the Breeders Cup.
