Horror stories MP slams leasehold ‘trap’ in report

Bristol Central MP Carla Denyer has handed a report on leaseholders' experiences to the Government

The damning assessment comes from a new report submitted to the Government by Green Party MPs Carla Denyer, of Bristol Central, and Brighton Pavilion’s Sian Berry.

The document, which details a litany of “horror stories’ from constituents, paints a stark picture of residents held to ransom by opaque fees, poor maintenance and significant barriers when attempting to sell their homes.

Ms Denyer urged the Government to act with urgency to protect those already trapped in a system she argues is designed to exploit.

“I have heard absolute horror stories from some of my constituents about their experiences of living in leasehold flats,’ she said.
