Football Lockyer admits Rovers are lacking in confidence and belief

BRISTOL Rovers defender Tom Lockyer declared his frustration at the club's recent run of form, with the Gas conceding from Cheltenham Town's only shot on target in a 1-0 defeat at the EV Charger Points Stadium.

Darrell Clarke's side had numerous chances to open up a lead, with Fabrizio Cavegn coming close twice in the first half, while Ellis Harrison and Joel Cotterill nearly found the back of the net after the break, with the latter hitting the post.

“No, it is difficult look, there's people low in confidence in there with the run that we've been on. And, yeah, I don’t know. Like, we need it to go in off someone's backside and for it to go in and I feel like that could just be the catalyst that we need,” Lockyer said when reflecting on a seventh consecutive League Two defeat.

“But at the minute it's just not happening for whatever reason, and it’s definitely not lack of effort - we go to the GPS vest that tells us that, because that’s the first thing I look for when we go on this run - are people starting to hide?

“But no, the effort was still there, probably the only thing and this is probably because of the run we've been on, it just didn’t feel like once we went down, that there was that real, real belief that we were going to get back in it and look, that's probably the run we've been on - the lack of confidence.
