THIS was a situation Gerhard Struber had found himself in before. The Bristol City boss took his seat in front of the press late on Friday evening and was able touch on positive aspects of what had been, in parts, a reasonable display, but with an overwhelming caveat of frustration.

Such a feeling was born from what, ultimately, had been another disappointing result; the latest in a run of difficult evenings in south Bristol. As Watford made their way over to celebrate in front of their travelling fans in the Atyeo Stand, the City players took a lap to applaud what was a quickly disappearing home crowd.

In a fashion that has become a bit too familiar for the Robins' faithful, it felt as though they had a hand in their own misfortune. Having had the better of the early exchanges, Struber's side found themselves behind when, with just seven minutes on the clock when Luca Kjerrumgaard poked the Hornets ahead. The opener had come from nothing, in part due to a clever Giorgi Chakvetadze run, but primarily because of a laboured defensive moment. The Georgian broke beyond Mark Sykes and down the left wing before interchanging inside the area. Without facing a single challenge, Watford had taken the ball from the halfway line to the back of the net in less than 10 seconds.
