Athletics Ben in masterful form again to land 5000m title
Bristol Post
|August 29, 2025
BEN Robinson has not spent long in the veteran ranks but he is clearly in a rush to make his mark.
The Bristol & West AC runner, pictured, is now the proud owner of five individual titles since joining the over 35 ranks, adding the British Masters 5000m title last the weekend.
Robinson showed what a class act he is by destroying the field at Nuneaton, clocking 15mins 06.38secs to finish more than a minute ahead of the field.
“Obviously it was not the quality of field it could have been but you can only race those who turn up and it was job done,’ said Robinson.
It was the 36-year-old's third British Masters title this year, having opened 2025 by winning gold over 3000m indoors and then claiming a superb win at the British Masters Cross Country Championships, in Scotland, in March. He also helped his B&W teammates retain their road relay title.
With individual success over the mile and 10,000m in 2024, when he turned 35, it has been a brilliant start to life in the Masters, though Robinson continues to play a big part in the success of the senior section as well.
