HAVERING'S Eastern Young Athletes League team started their season in winning style with victory in their opening fixture on a cold and breezy day at Thurrock on Sunday.

The Under 17 Men notched up ten wins and eight second places on their way to a 50-point victory, with the field event team leading the way. Harrison Rabess starred with wins in the A discus, and B shot and long jump and Sam Johnson had a throws double in the A shot & hammer, with Freddie Hatcher (B discus) and Jayden Wilkinson (B javelin) adding more field event wins.

Findlay McLaren and Shea Sweeney took both strings of the 800m while the mixed sprint relay B squad of Christine Atumonyogo, Amy Mansell, Tom Backham and Tobi Bello also added full points.

The Under 17 Women had 11 wins and a 44-point winning margin. Lila Chapelhow had a hat-trick of wins in the hammer and B discus and javelin, while Amy Mansell won the A 200m and the B shot, and Eboni Roach won both shot and discus A events. Kara Adegite won the B 200m and Scarlett Woods won the pole vault while Jasmine Asmal added a win in the B 800m.

Ayla Baker again starred for the Under 15 Girls as she improved her own week-old javelin record with her 38.51m throw, also moving up to second in the club Under 17 all-time list. She also won the shot.
