A group of objectors who gathered in Warton and St Annes recently and this week outside the latest hearings at Blackpool's Village Hotel claim the plans will mean "11 years of living on a building site".

Among the specific features they highlighted were: bird disruption around Warton Aerodrome increasing the risk of bird strikes on the high velocity aircraft being regularly tested there; risk of explosion collision with the SABIC High Pressure Ethylene gas pipeline which runs through the Fylde; the building of two vast substations up close to homes and schools; small farms bankrupted; noise vibration and air pollution six days a week; wildlife decimated; St Annes beach closed for up to three years; junior football and recreation grounds closed; local businesses and tourism spoiled; sand dunes compromised; green belt l
