New addition is the cat's pyjamas – and the bed's all hers

The last couple of weeks has seen a new addition to the team at Wobschall Towers. She came through our door and immediately established herself as the queen she clearly is.

With her glossy black fur, startling green eyes and unnervingly loud miaow, rescue cat Maggie came, saw and conquered all before her

She'd been in foster care with a local cat rescue for weeks; she’s two, so well past the cute (and incredibly destructive) kitten stage and just hadn’t caught anyone's eye.

But their loss is absolutely our gain. Understandably she’s taken a couple of weeks to settle but once she'd established she was an only child and would be treated accordingly (showered with treats, presented with an array of playthings that were treated with absolute disdain etc) she’s fitted right in.
